PHOENIX (AP)- Phoenix police say a woman who allegedly stole an ambulance and led officers on chase through the West Valley has been taken into custody.

The unattended ambulance was taken Friday evening from Phoenix Baptist Hospital. The keys were reportedly left inside after a patient was unloaded at the hospital.

Police spokesman James Holmes says officers pursued the woman before she eventually stopped several blocks down the road. She was taken into custody without incident.

Police did not immediately release the woman's name.

KTAR's Martha Maurer contributed to this report.
