Libraries have always had books available for checkout, but the city of Glendale is now offering some e-readers at its libraries.

Spokeswoman Marcheta Strunk said the city has booth Kindles and Nooks available for residents.

"They do have pre-installed books," she said. "There's a range of adult-specific, teen, children and then there's several Spanish language books that are available."

Strunk said the only requirement for residents to check out the e-readers is that they are in good standing with the library.

The e-readers are available for up to four weeks.
