PHOENIX -- The trial for the Tempe mother of missing "Baby Gabriel" is scheduled to begin.
Trial motions are expected to start Tuesday and jury selection is slated for Wednesday in a trial involving 26-year-old Elizabeth Johnson. She is charged with kidnapping and custodial interference.
Gabriel was 8 months old when he was last seen in December 2009 in San Antonio.
Johnson told the boy's father that she killed Gabriel and put him in the trash. Johnson later said she gave the baby to a Texas couple.
Johnson has been jailed without bond since January 2010. She previously was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial, but has since been restored to competency.
Gabriel has never been found, and police don't know whether he is alive.
