Attorney: Brewer’s executive order doesn’t affect program

A Valley attorney said the newest executive order from Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer does not really affect that much.
“The governor’s executive order simply restates what we already know,” said attorney Daniel Ortega.
Successful applicants to the Deferred Action program won’t get driver’s licenses or benefits under the executive order, but they did not have access to those in the first place.
“The only thing that these young people are entitled to is deferred action, and during that deferred action, employment authorization,” said Ortega. “That’s it.
Ortega said that he believes Brewer signed the executive order to clear up any confusion among her constituents and possibly for a little political posturing.
