CHANDLER, Ariz. — Intel has announced plans for a new facility that will bring hundreds of jobs and $300 million in construction to the Valley.
Spokesman Jason Bagley said the new research and development facility on the Chandler campus near Rural Road and Chandler Boulevard should be ready next year. Construction hiring is likely to be about 1,000 jobs.
Hundreds of white-collar jobs are on tap for the facility. There will be a focus on hiring military veterans.
“Veterans with technical experience work out very well at the company,” Bagley said. “We’re going to make a special recruiting effort to target these individuals.”
The new facility will cost about $300 million.
The new facility is expected to hire several hundred workers, about half with advanced engineering degrees.
Intel, headquartered in northern California, manufactures semiconductor chips.
