Ex-Goodyear teacher gets year in jail in sex case
PHOENIX - A former high school teacher in Goodyear accused of having a sexual relationship with a minor has been sentenced to one year in jail.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 36-year-old Brian Bizzell also was sentenced Friday to lifetime probation with sex offender terms as part of a plea agreement.
Bizzell was arrested in December at his Avondale apartment after a female student told police she had numerous sexual encounters with him.
Goodyear police say Bizzell was a band, choir and drama teacher at Estrella Foothills High School at the time of his Dec. 14 arrest.
He was jailed on suspicion of sexual conduct with a minor, luring a minor for sexual exploitation and aggravated luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
