GREEN VALLEY, Arizona - Pima County authorities are investigating the shooting death of a man found next to his vehicle near a Green Valley residence where his girlfriend sought refuge.

Sheriff's officials identify the dead man as 28-year-old Anthony Wayne Peters.

They say deputies found his body early Saturday after a girlfriend of a neighbor called to report a shooting.

Sheriff's Deputy Tom Peine says Peters followed his girlfriend to the neighbor's home after a domestic dispute.

Peine says Peter's girlfriend told deputies she escaped after Peters forced her into his vehicle. She said she then heard gunfire and saw Peters drive off.

Peine says the neighbor has acknowledged shooting his gun. Peine says no arrest has been made.
