AT&T scam email installs malware on computers

A new scam email targeting AT&T customers who receive paperless billing could harm computers, said Ken Moskowitz with the Data Doctors.
Moskowitz said the look and language of the fake bill looks just like the real thing.
“The problem is, when you click on it, it’s actually a harmful malware,” he said. “It’s looking to drop files into your application data, your temp folder. It injects, basically, harmful code into your computer.”
One sign that the emailed bill is a fake is that the amount owed will be very large.
Moskowitz said, as a general not of caution, don’t click on links received in an email. Instead, go directly to the company’s website and pay bills there.
