PHOENIX - A Phoenix elementary school teacher has been arrested in a sexual abuse case.

Phoenix police say 28-year-old Kimberly Ali was taken into custody Tuesday at her home. She's being held on suspicion of nine counts of sexual conduct with a minor and five counts of sexual abuse.

Police say the mother of the alleged 14-year-old victim discovered what appeared to be ``sexting'' type messages on her daughter's cellphone.

The girl attends Sonoran Sky Elementary School where Ali teachers special education, but she's not one of Ali's students.

Detectives learned the relationship between Ali and the teen began with social media contact as early as April and evolved into alleged sexual contact from July 14 to July 26.

Police didn't immediately know Tuesday evening whether Ali had a lawyer yet.
