PRESCOTT, Ariz. — A building on Prescott's famed Whiskey Row that burned nearly three months ago will be demolished.

The Daily Courier reports that demolition work will begin within the next week or so on the building that housed Pearl's Place Café, The Bird Cage Saloon and the Prescott Food Store.

The May 8 fire was caused by an appliance malfunction.

The lot will be cleared soon to make way for a new building.

The 100 block of South Montezuma Street in downtown Prescott is an historic strip of saloons, restaurants and shops.

It's been called Whisky Row since before the turn of the century, when more than 40 saloons lined the street.

The entire block of Whiskey Row was destroyed by a fire in 1900.
