In the wake of the Colorado shootings, advertising for the newest Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises,” is being pulled from some national television networks.
According to the LA Times, NBC, CBS and ESPN are among the first national networks to pull the ads.
Due to the sensitivity of the situation as the story dominated news coverage Friday morning, some networks were yanking advertisements for the film on their own accord, the sources said. In addition, representatives of “Dark Knight Rises” studio Warner Bros. contacted at least one network and asked it to take the step.
Many trailers for the film showed violent portions.
Warner Brothers spent $738.9 million last year to advertise its films.
