Phoenix police said Karlisha Randolph had her two sons with her Thursday evening. Randolph's baby was delivered at a hospital and he is in critical condition. Her other sons suffered non life-threatening injuries.
"She never even got to see her new baby that was born as she was passing away," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson.
The accident occurred near 39th and Northern avenues. Randolph's mother, 43, was driving. She also suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the 21-year-old man who hit the women's vehicle will face criminal charges once he's released from the hospital.
Thompson said another man who drove past traffic barricades at the scene and crashed into two police vehicles, totaling one of them, also will face charges.
Thompson said police believe both men were impaired.
