Portion of 87 Highway shut down by fire

A portion of the 87 Highway has been shut down by the Canyon Fire in the Coconino National Forest, which has reached 1,000 acres.
Authorities from the Coconino National Forest are reporting that Highway 87 has been shut down from just northeast of Pine Strawberry to Winslow.
It will most likely remain closed through Saturday.
The fire is located approximately 15 miles northeast of Blue Ridge Reservoir in the Jacks Canyon area.
No structures are threatened by the Canyon Fire, which was reported just after 7 a.m. Friday.
Authorities believe the fire was started by lightning.
No residents have been asked to evacuate the area.
