PHOENIX -— Phoenix police have arrested two men on multiple felony charges after they say one of them threatened an employee with an ax after shoplifting at a Home Depot in northwest Phoenix.

Officer James Holmes says that 27-year-old Kyle Gustav Book and 23-year-old Michael Powers were arrested Friday on charges of armed robbery, stealing a car and unlawful flight.

Holmes says that police suspect Book of shoplifting and then threatening an employee with an ax before running out of the store and getting into a car driven by Powers.

Officers who had responded to the scene tried to stop the car, but the pair fled. Police used a helicopter to track them and soon after arrested them.

It's unclear whether Book and Powers yet have attorneys.

    If you see
someone walk into a store with an axe, you have to wonder what's about to go down. Come one Kyle, use a gun next time...Eric Holder is handing them out to commit crimes.
