Here’s a story sure to get a strong reaction out of any bookworm. When a mailman in Utah requested a few books for an underprivileged kid with none to read, he was expecting maybe 20 or so of his friends to come through.
Ron Lynch a mail carrier from Utah was on his normal route, stuffing mail into boxes at a local apartment complex when he came across Matthew Flores reading ads near the boxes. He loves reading so much, he reads junk mail since he can’t afford books, or even bus fair to the library.
Flores then asked Lynch if he had any extra ads he could read.
An avid reader himself, Lynch wanted to get the 12-year-old something more substantial. He decided to see if any of his friends would also want to spring into action with donations. He posted the following on Facebook:
Facebook friends… This is Matthew Flores. Today while delivering mail to his apartment complex, I saw him reading ads, and then he asked me if I had any extra mail he could read. He told me his wish is to have books to read. I told him the library had many, but he said they don’t have a car, and couldn’t afford the bus. So… let’s get this 12 year old some books! Let’s help him. I was given many books as a child, and it’s time to help someone else! Please share and let’s get him tons of reading material! Most kids his age want electronics! It’s great to see his desire, and you should have seen him beam when I said I could help!

What he didn’t expect was over 15 thousand shares and donations from all over the world. Eyewitness News in New York is reporting that since the post last Thursday, Flores has already received around 350 and are expecting numbers in the thousands.
