TUCSON, Ariz. — A female African elephant is the first elephant calf born
at Tucson’s Reid Park Zoo.
The zoo said the 24-year-old mother, Semba, gave birth shortly before 11 p.m.
The calf has not been named and has not been weighed yet, but zoo officials said
she and her mother appear to be doing well.
