PHOENIX — Phoenix police say one man was shot after being involved in an altercation early Saturday morning in the parking lot of an after-hours club in central Phoenix.
Officer James Holmes said Phoenix police got called to the scene around 3:30 a.m. near Central Avenue and Mohave Street.
Holmes said he learned that the gunshot victim, a black male around 30 years old, was outside with several others when he became involved in a verbal, and then physical, altercation with another man. Someone pulled out a gun and then shot the victim, Holmes said.
He said that the injured man was immediately transported to a local hospital in an extremely critical condition.
Holmes also said the Central Avenue was closed for several hours from Mohave Street to Interstate 17 while police investigated the scene. Police have not yet identified a suspect in the shooting.
