Teen who made threats to Chandler school won’t be charged

PHOENIX — A 16-year-old boy will not face charges after being taken into custody as a suspect in a bomb threat made to a Chandler school.
Suspicious packages were found Tuesday at Chief Hill Learning Academy near Frye and Cooper roads and some sort of device at a townhouse complex at McQueen and Ray roads.
A student told school personnel that another student had made the threat, even going as far as to say when it would happen, 11:25 a.m.
The school and part of the housing complex were evacuated. Hours later, Chandler Police said the packages and the device posed no threats to safety.
A police spokesman said charges would not be filed against the boy, who was released into his parents’ custody after he was questioned.
