Pilots sue suburban Phoenix municipal airport

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A pilots’ group is suing the Glendale Municipal Airport
over hangar storage issues.

The Glendale Airport Pilots Association said the city is forcing pilots at the
airport to clear their non-flight related belongings from their hangars.

Nearly 20 pilots have pooled their cash to file the suit, which alleges breach
of contract, broken promises, changing contracts and loss of property value.

The pilots want the city to allow them to continue storing their
non-flight-related belongings in the hangars they have used for years.

Some hangar owners store their model cars, boats, RVs, exercise equipment,
antique collectables and more alongside their airplanes at the Glendale airport.

But the Federal Aviation Administration stipulates that the city only allow
aeronautical storage in hangars in order to receive grants for airport expansion
and improvements.
