Regents approve tuition hikes at Arizona state universities

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Board of Regents approved the tuition
proposals of the state’s three public universities for the 2014-15 academic
year.

The board approved the tuition recommendations at a meeting Thursday in Tucson.

The University of Arizona had proposed a 2 percent tuition increase for
in-state students in the fall and a 5 percent hike for nonresidents.

Arizona State University submitted a proposal last month with no tuition
increase for resident undergraduate students and a 3 percent hike for
non-resident students.

Northern Arizona University proposed keeping tuition costs stable for
undergraduate students currently on the eight-semester Pledge program. But the
Flagstaff school was seeking a 2.6 percent tuition increase for incoming
in-state freshmen and 1.9 percent for new nonresident undergraduate students.
