Arizonans rush to get insurance busy on last day

PHOENIX — Nonprofit groups helping Arizonans sign up for health insurance
they are swamped with last-minute requests for help.

Monday’s surge of people comes on the final day of this year’s open enrollment
for private health insurance bought through the federal marketplace.

The Arizona Association of Community Health Centers is the lead group
coordinating enrollment outreach in Arizona. Spokeswoman Tara McCollum Plese
said the group has a raft of appointments with people needing help. A number of
other groups are also helping walk-ins including the Urban League and Enroll
America.

Enroll Arizona’s Phoenix location had lines out the door as people waited for
help signing up.

Those seeking insurance this year must create an account on the government’s
healthcare.gov website, which has < ahref="http://ktar.com/25/1718639/Health-care-site-stumbles-on-last-signup-day"> been having issues, by Monday night and will have another two weeks to pick a
plan.
