NWS: 2014 second-warmest Arizona winter on record

PHOENIX — The 2013-2014 winter was the second-warmest in Arizona history, the National Weather Service said Friday.

“We just had a lot of prolonged warmer-than-average periods, a few record highs here and there and very limited cold outbreaks,” said Charlotte Dewey with the NWS.

The figures from NWS said the average temperature during winter was slightly more than 60 degrees.

However, that number only includes data from December, January and February. When March is factored in, the data breaks a record.

“If we do include March…those are ranking as the warmest three-and-a-half month period,” said Dewey.
