Ex-cons arrested in shooting death of ASU student

CHANDLER, Ariz. — Police have arrested two ex-convicts in the
2008 drug-related shooting death of an Arizona State University student.

Police said 29-year-old Rory Gene Coriell and 27-year-old William Hayden
Crawford are jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder in the killing of
25-year-old Zachary Rowe, whose body was found in his burning rented home.

A police affidavit said the fire was set.

The affidavit also said investigators found large amounts of illegal drugs and
drug paraphernalia in the home and that informants said Rowe was a marijuana
dealer.

Department of Corrections records indicated Coriell was released from prison
in March after serving sentences on marijuana and weapons convictions.

Department records said Crawford was released in November after serving time on a drug
conviction.
