PHOENIX — A 20-year-old driver has been accused of hitting and killing her boyfriend after an argument.
Phoenix police arrested Brittney Nolan after a jogger discovered the body of her boyfriend, 20-year-old Jacob Rice, near 27th Avenue and Carefree Highway on Saturday morning.
According to police, Nolan told investigators she had been drinking at a party and she and Rice got into an argument on the way home. Nolan told police Rice walked away and she went looking for him. At one point, Nolan told investigators, she accessed her cell phone and lost control of her car. Nolan kept going, she told police, because she thought she hit a pole.
Investigators said they think Rice was walking in the bike lane when he was hit and thrown into a landscaped area. Nolan was booked on one count of leaving the scene of an accident. Police said more charges could be filed.
Police say while Nolan did not appear impaired, she admitted to consuming alcohol during the night.
