YUMA, Ariz. — A suspect in a shooting in southwestern Arizona that left
one man wounded has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
The Yuma Sun reports that 22-year-old Marco Navarrete
was arraigned Friday in Yuma Justice Court on two felony offenses. Navarrete has
also been charged with one count of aggravated assault.
Navarrete entered not guilty pleas to both charges.
A justice of the peace denied a request from Navarrete’s defense lawyer to
reduce his bond.
Yuma police responded Wednesday around 3 a.m. to a report of a disturbance
involving a gun.
Officers found a 46-year-old man with gunshot wounds to one of his feet. He was
treated and released at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Police have not identified
Investigators say an argument may have led to the shooting.
