Bicyclist hit by car, dies at Phoenix hospital

Phoenix police are investigating a fatal collision Wednesday night near 28th Avenue and West McDowell Road.

Sgt. Steve Martos said a bicyclist was struck by a car while crossing McDowell Road and was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Martos said the driver stayed at the scene and detectives will speak with the driver to determine what happened.

“Initial reports are that we do not believe impairment is a factor in this case, though the investigation is still ongoing,” he said.
