PHOENIX (AP) _ Authorities say a man is in custody in connection with a fatal
hit-and-run accident in central Phoenix.
Phoenix police announced Friday that 52-year-old Alexander Hearn is being held
on suspicion of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
A pedestrian was killed Wednesday night at the intersection of 24th and Van
Buren streets after witnesses say he was struck by an SUV.
Authorities say the 50-year-old victim was crossing the street against traffic
and the driver involved fled the scene after the accident.
First responders found the man in the roadway and took him to a hospital where
he was pronounced dead.
