Arizona man gets prison term in fatal road-rage case

PHOENIX — A man accused of killing another motorist in a 2008 road-rage
incident in Scottsdale has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Maricopa County prosecutors said 51-year-old John Chester Stuart was convicted
of second-degree murder and drive-by shooting in September.

His first trial ended in a hung jury with Stuart representing himself. He had
an attorney for the second trial.

Stuart was facing up to 48 years in prison in the death of 49-year-old Tom
Beasley.

He was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the murder charge and a concurrent
14 years for the drive-by shooting charge.

Authorities said Stuart fatally shot Beasley on Jan. 29, 2008, after the two men
got into an argument that turned physical after the Phoenix Open golf
tournament.
