PHOENIX — An armed man who barricaded himself inside an apartment in Buckeye has been taken safely into custody.
The standoff with Edward Tackett, 46, which began Tuesday evening at the Cholla Ranch Apartments, lasted nearly six hours, ending just before midnight.
Residents at the complex near Miller and Baseline roads were evacuated.
Police had found Tackett near his unit with a gun. When officers tried to talk to him, police said Tackett aimed the gun at them and an officer fired.
Tackett fled and locked himself inside his home.
There were no injuries, police said.
