PHOENIX — U.S. Sen. John McCain says he’s reluctant to tell the owner of the Washington Redskins to change the team’s nickname even though some say the word is offensive.
“Redskins, to many Native Americans, which matters more than John McCain’s view, is offensive,” said the Arizona senator. “I don’t presume to tell the owner of the Redskins what he should or should not do.”
Meanwhile, Daniel Snyder, the team’s owner, has not indicated that he has any plans to change the name of his team.
