PRESCOTT, Ariz. — A jury in Prescott has begun deliberating in a
stockbroker’s murder trial.
The Yavapai County Superior Court jury began deliberating Tuesday after
attorneys finished closing arguments that began Friday in the case of Steven
Prosecutors contend Steven DeMocker bludgeoned his ex-wife to death with a golf
club because he was deep in debt, wanted the insurance payment and didn’t want
to pay alimony.
Prosecutors don’t have any direct evidence linking DeMocker to the July 2008
death of Carolyn Kennedy, but they said circumstantial evidence tied DeMocker to
Defense attorneys tried to deflect suspicion away from DeMocker and toward a
man who lived in Kennedy’s guesthouse but who has since died.
