PHOENIX — Fiscal hawk Sal DiCiccio holds a big lead over challenger
Karlene Keogh Parks in a hotly contested Phoenix City Council race.
DiCiccio holds a 2,800-vote lead over Parks out of approximately 30,000 votes
cast in the District 6 race in Tuesday’s election. Final vote-counting is expected to be finished Friday.
Public employee unions targeted DiCiccio, a critic of pension benefits that he
has called too generous.
In an even closer race, Justin Johnson and Laura Pastor had the most votes in a
seven-candidate field in District 4 and appeared headed for a runoff.
Johnson is a son of former Mayor Paul Johnson. Pastor is daughter of U.S. Rep.
In District 8’s race for an open seat, Kate Gallego may face a runoff with Warren Stewart.
