PHOENIX — A Phoenix woman is accused of selling counterfeit fashions in
A police sergeant was patrolling his squad area when he came across large
canopies and display tables with some 200 items bearing registered trademarks.
The officer thought it was suspicious that those type of items would be sold in
a yard sale environment.
An undercover female officer was brought in and bought some of the goods before
police obtained probable cause for a search warrant of the location.
Police say Maritza Garcia Orozco was arrested on suspicion of operating an
illegal enterprise and possessing counterfeit marks.
They say Orozco allegedly admitted to making at least $3,000 a week profit or
$150,000 a year with her enterprise.
It was unclear Monday if Orozco has an attorney yet.
