PHOENIX — A man accused of breaking into an apartment and molesting a
young girl has been sentenced to 24 years in prison and a lifetime of probation
upon his release.
Court records show Ricardo Torres Marquez was sentenced Friday by Superior
Court Commissioner Patricia Starr.
He had pleaded guilty to sexual conduct of a minor and two counts of attempt to
commit molestation of a child.
At the time of his arrest in 2011, police suspected him of breaking into the
residence near McDowell Road and 75th Avenue and molesting a 4-year-old girl.
Police say Marquez tried to carry the girl out the front door after molesting
her. The child’s parents and grandmother were sleeping in other rooms but woke
and were able to detain him until police arrived.
