Authorities: 2 Tucson men arrested in fraud case

FLORENCE, Ariz. — Two Tucson men are in custody for allegedly having phony
identification and fraudulently obtained gift cards.

Pinal County Sheriff’s officials say 23-year-old Hector Sandoval and
27-year-old Ruben Sanchez-Bustamante are being held on suspicion of identity
theft, possession of stolen property, trafficking in stolen property and
fraudulent schemes.

The men were pulled over for an Interstate 10 traffic violation south of
Picacho on July 10.

They allowed a sheriff’s deputy to search their vehicle and that’s when he
found 12 gift cards _ valued at $250 apiece _ hidden in a dashboard compartment.

Also found were fake Pennsylvania driver’s licenses and two bogus credit cards.

Authorities say the suspects allegedly used fake coded credit cards along with
false identifications to purchase gift cards and other items from U.S. retail
stores.
