PHOENIX – If you’re planning on traveling north to avoid the blazing desert sun, you might want to add some minutes to your travel time.
A pavement improvement project will begin next week northbound on Interstate 17 near Camp Verde between State Route 179 (the Sedona turnoff) and Stoneman Lake Road, according to The Arizona Department of Transportation.
Crews will begin working in the area on June 17 and lane restrictions are expected between 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 6 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
The $3.9 million project includes repaving the roads, replacing the guardrails, among other things along the eight-mile stretch of 1-17.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of fall.
