Phoenix trail system seeks to keep hikes in the know

PHOENIX — It’s better to know what you’re getting yourself into before you take a hike, especially in summer.

The City of Phoenix Trail Rating System offers valuable information to hikers.

“Each trail listing and description that we have online has a rating symbol,” said David Urbinato with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation. “You just click on the symbol and it gives you a good description.”

The Trail Rating System offers information about trail terrain, obstacles and rates them from “easiest to “extremely difficult.”
