Air-conditioner repair crews prep for busy weekend

PHOENIX — Last weekend’s blast of heat kept Valley air-conditioner repair crews working around the clock. They will be put to the test again this weekend with temperatures close to 110 degrees.
Kevin Howard with Howard Air said his calls are up by about 40 percent after a lot of people flipped on the switch and had no cool air.
“It’s across the board. Compressors are locked up, refrigerant leaks,” he said.
Howard said consumers should get a couple of quotes before having any work done and check with the Better Business Bureau about the company’s reputation before choosing.
And he said to be wary of crews that roam neighborhoods pounding on doors looking to work on AC units.
