For a guy who got fired after one day on the job, newsman
A.J. Clemente sure is having fun.
Clemente, the Bismarck, N.D., TV anchor who was fired after cursing on air, dropped by “Late Show With David Letterman” Wednesday to explain what happened.
The comedy of errors, aside from Clemente being unaware his mike was on, included mistimed cues and equipment issues. When the broadcast finally began, Clemente struggled with his composure, despite not knowing he’d had an audience to his cursefest.
“I shouldn’t have said the words,” he told Letterman, “but it was a perfect storm of mistakes.”
Letterman, 66, told the kid he would be fine. “You, my friend, have nothing to worry about.”
