APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. — Authorities said a body has been found in the
Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix, but it’s not immediately known if it’s
that of a hiker missing since Monday.
Search and rescue crews said the body was discovered Friday near a canyon south
of Siphon Draw.
Crews have been looking for 34-year-old Christopher Hensley, who was last seen
Monday afternoon when he set out for a hike at Lost Dutchman State Park.
Pinal County Sheriff’s officials said Hensley recently moved to Arizona and
didn’t have much water with him.
Sheriff’s officials said its search and rescue unit deployed Monday night and
that a member suffered a serious leg injury Tuesday night when a 20-pound rock
fell on his leg. Another member sprained an ankle.
