Mark Kelly issues challenge to Arizona Sen. Flake on gun vote

Gun-control advocate Mark Kelly has sent a warning to Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) about Flake’s continued opposition to the bipartisan legislation on background checks: Flake’s job is on the line because Kelly’s gun-control group will oppose Flake in 2018.
The Christian Science Monitor reported that Kelly, husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, said that even though Flake is a friend, “…friendship is one thing … saving people’s lives, especially first-graders’, is another.”
Flake posted to his Facebook page that he believed the current drafted legislation from Sens. Patrick Toomey (R-Pa.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), went too far.
Kelly and Giffords are the face of Americans for Responsible Solutions, a nonprofit which is pushing for legislative intervention to reduce gun violence. They met with Toomey and Manchin on Tuesday.
