You gotta love a Santa with tats, an Easter Bunny that hates vortices, a Sandman who's good with whips, a Tooth Fairy crushing on Jack Frost and elves that are basically the equivalent of the 47 percent in "Rise of the Guardians." The Plot: Said Guardians above need rookie Guardian Jack Frost's help in defeating the Bogeyman. What's the Bogeyman want? What all bad guys want darkness, acknowledgement and attention. The Score: I give it a B+. Though not altogether original, what you get is a solid family film high on entertainment with equal doses of humor and action. More At the Box Office: Ang Lee's highly anticipated "Life of Pi" is out. It was the Phoenix Film Critics Society's Pick of the Week earning a 8.4 out of 10. Buy our standards, that's a VERY good score. David Ramsey, president of the PFCS says make sure you see "Pi" on the biggest screen possible.
Another Fairytale on the Big Screen: There's a new trailer for a movie of a classic tale. It's called Jack the Giant Slayer and I'm thinking I might like this one. I mean, what's not to like? It's got Ian McShane, Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci:
TV Piracy: Nope, I'm not talking about stealing your neighbor's cable signal. I'm talking about a new swashbuckling drama "Crossbones" that NBC is planning to air. The big news is that Hugh Laurie is reportedly in talks to star on a TV show about pirates, says Deadline. I mean, besides Ian McShane, who else could capably play Blackbeard but Laurie?
Not So Good News for LiLo: Lindsay Lohan is starring in a TV movie about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and one review is in. I think this headline from Newser says it all: "Lindsay Lohan is Hilariously Bad in Liz & Dick." And I think it's actually sad because the girl actually has some talent. Problem is she hasn't been able to develop it lately because her personal life just keeps getting in the way.
A Royal Baby?: Well, so much for keeping royal secrets. Kate Middleton's former roommate is flapping her lips, says The Frisky. Now, only time will tell if this rumor is true and that amount of time could be 9 months. Said former roommate says we can expect an announcement from one of their castles soon. Although, there have been reports that she was pregnant 9 months ago and we know how that turned out.
Baby Makes Bucks: Speaking of preggo eggos, I guess it's lucky seven for an ex-Price is Right model. Brandi Cochran, also a former Miss USA, was awarded $777,000 in her pregnancy discrimination lawsuit. According to E!Online a jury found she was wrongfully terminated from the show because she was pregnant. They report that once she tried to return from maternity leave, producers apparently turned her away. Her legal team is also asking for $8 million in punitive damages.
Divorce Announcement: Danica Patrick has announced that she and her husband of seven years, Paul Hospenthal, have decided to "amicably end" their marriage. She made the announcement on Facebook. She said: "He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward." What I can't understand is why so far, more than 7,000 people clicked "Like" on the announcement.
