Click Chick: A lot of eyes were on 'Katie'

Seems that TV viewers seemed to like Katie. That's Katie Couric's new show. Her first guest was Jessica Simpson who wore a black suit, not her infamous Daisy Dukes, to show off her post-baby body. She had the highest-rated debut show in the last decade. How'd she do? Critics weren't exactly kind. Personally, I find her likable. And everyone will be disappointed if they think she's supposed to be the next Oprah. They should stop comparing them. They're two different creatures.

NBC's Today Show, instead of running the national moment of silence on the anniversary of Sept. 11, ran an interview with Kris Jenner talking about her breast augmentation. All the other stations covered it the 9/11 moment of silence. Of course, NBC was criticized. The network said they had a lengthy interview with a WTC survivor earlier in the show and another segment talking about the memories of the event.

And if this was my science teacher, I'd be very . . . amused. Martin Landau, in a clip from Frankenweenie, has a very interesting way of explaining lightning and electrocution to the kids in his class:

Is Shadow and Bone the next Harry Potter? Looks like DreamWorks is hoping so. Deadline reports DreamWorks aquired the rights to Leigh Bardugo's young adult fantasy novel Shadow and Bone. Deadline reports it's about a young woman who has to learn to control her newly discovered power to save her world from creatures and darkness that threaten the land.

I told you there maybe a sequel to "Magic Mike." And here are some details on Magic Mike 2. According to the SlashFilm, it will be bigger and be a road trip comedy. Yep, they're flipping the proverbial script on this one. But heck, you can't fall off the floor. I'll just say it wasn't the best movie I've seen all year.

DARPA, a military research group, is doing a lot with robotics. And many of their robotics are inspired by animals. They've got a robot that can run like a cheetah, and they have a huge robotic alpha dog called the Legged Squad Support System or LS3. It can help service members carry gear through rugged terrain. Now I'm posting the newest robot dog created by Boston Dynamics. And I have to say, it's a lot quieter than the first one. BUT it still can't sneak up on anyone yet:

It was 16 years ago that we got Independence Day - the movie. And as I've been oft to say, Hollywood loves a sequel. So the studio and director Roland Emmerich are in talks about getting them done, according to ComingSoon. The sequels will be called ID Forever Parts 1 and 2. FYI, in case you missed it. I told you they were making 3 instead of 2 hobbit movies. The second movie gets a new title - The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Sounds depressing, but you know I'm going to see it!
